Havurah Shir Hadash - A Jewish Renewal Community

Who Are We?

Havurah Shir Hadash is a Jewish Renewal community located in Ashland, Oregon. We share the desire to fill our lives with a sense of holiness and G-d. We are an extended family of Jews by birth and by choice, non-Jewish spouses and partners, and friends from many different spiritual paths who have come to be with us. We are proud to be a GLBT Safe Zone. We are dedicated to creating a real sense of community by celebrating life cycle events and Jewish holidays together. Visit the Havurah's website to see more about who we are. http://havurahshirhadash.org

What Do We Offer?

In addition to spiritually based services for Shabbat and Jewish Holidays which are infused with music, the Havurah brings many opportunities for education. Our spritual leader, Rabbi David Zaslow, is a phenominal teacher who offers many classes ranging from Spritual Poetry workshops to The Torah of Leonard Cohen to Kabbalistic Meditation. Classes are affordable for everyone. We also support a spiritually based school for ages 3-6, The Peace Garden Preschool & Kindergarten (you can visit their page on ACR) as well as a Sunday Hebrew school for ages 5 - 15.)
The Havurah brings many wonderful, cultural events to our valley as well. Check out our events listing to see all the many wonderful concerts we produce, as well as weekends such as the Joan Borysenko Weekend Retreat that was held in early December.

The New Anti-Semitism by Rabbi David Zaslow

The New Anti-Semitism
by Rabbi David Zaslow

The other day Linda Cotrufello posted an article on this site. The article has been going around the internet and was also posted on another community bulletin board here in Ashland. My response here is strictly to the author of the article and not to Linda. I assume her motives are good and based on her care for our society. But the actual article is by a controversial conspiracy theorist named Victor Thorn. He describes himself in his website bio as… Continue

Food - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Food is any substance, usually composed of carbohydrates, fats, proteins and water, that can be eaten or drunk by an animal, including humans, for nutrition or pleasure. Items considered food may be sourced from plants, animals or other categories such as fungus or fermented products like alcohol. Although many human cultures sought food items through hunting and gathering, today most cultures use farming, ranching, and fishing, with hunting, foraging and other methods of a local nature included but playing a minor role.

Understand Consciousness, Part II: Foods | NaturalNews

As talked about in "Understanding Consciousness" part 1, a large part of our consciousness comes from our thoughts and thought patterns. But a large part of our consciousness also comes from what we put inside our bodies. The foods we eat literally affect our consciousness and probably more than most realize.

Raw Spirit Festival

Raw Spirit International 2010 is a full three-day event featuring two stages (Lake and Meadow Stages) with mixed musical performers and dynamic health-eco-peace research presenters amidst stunningly-beautiful natural backdrops. Additionally, the Sacred Exercise Area (featuring an eclectic array of yoga, chi kung, tai chi, pranayama, poetry, prayers, meditation and beyond) is perched atop the lakeside cliff once again with spectacular vistas of the surreal jagged lake, it's sheer-rock shores and many islands. The Raw Vegan Demos and Tastings are once again in the Hilltop Pagoda with sweeping vistas of panoramic mountains.

Take GM Corn off the Shelves! - The Petition Site | Care2

The shelves of our grocery stores are filled with genetically-modified (GM) vegetables, also known as Frankenfood. But what's scariest about Frankenfood is not simply that scientists are manipulating DNA, but that they are not testing it before the food is sold to the public to be consumed!
